Chametz Cleaning, Shopping in Borough Park

Posted on: April 1, 2012

Yesterday Mir and I were ready.  We woke up early and had brunch at breakfast time at a cute place around the corner from my house before heading out to Target for some last-minute chametz cleaning supplies.  We got back to my house and put together our new vacuum cleaner to start cleaning listening and singing to a mashup mix that included hits by Stevie Nicks, The Smiths and Will Smith.

I felt amazing.  We were getting a lot of work done, we were having a great time, we were ready to go the distance to get the house completely clean and chametz-free.  I even went so far as to pull out the attachments of my new vacuum cleaner to suck all of the little bits of whatever out of cracks between the wooden beams.  All I needed to do was mop,the first of several moppings, for sure, but I wanted to get it done.  But I couldn’t.  Without so much as a small note or text of information I found out, while trying to clean chametz for arguably the most important Jewish holiday, my water was shut off so that a plumber could work.

So here we are today, going shopping for K4P food in Borough Park, Brooklyn that will have to stay in plastic bags for at least a day while I clean the chametz again.
