Hello All.

B”H my partner and I were not affected by Hurricane Sandy. When the storm came in our house shook violently with every wind gust freaking out our cats and definitely scaring us, but we had power for the entire storm and still have power. Unfortunately, the newscasts are not over exaggerations of the storm’s devastation. The vast majority of lower Manhattan and parts of Queens, Brooklyn are without power, many areas of New Jersey, Long Island and Staten Island are still underwater, without power and stranded.

Homes have been destroyed. Airports have started to re-open, but Laguardia is still closed. the MTA hasn’t resumed services as the under river tunnels are flooded. Many areas of tunnel under Manhattan are still flooded. It’s not an exaggeration, it’s still pretty terrible. Now, I’m not saying that this is as horrific as Katrina, but I’m also not comparing. All I’m saying is that many many people are not out of the dark literally and physically.

This website is great to keep updated on NYC Transit

There are a lot of volunteer opportunities throughout the boroughs.

Please stay safe everyone.
